  • Cecelia, Social and community outreach worker at a remarkable children's centre in Uplands, Kijabe, (near Nairobi) Kenya.
This is a great organisation I have been involved with for 12 years now. I fully attest to the veracity and dedication of all the staff I have met. The founder is Anne Chege, who my brother and I know well. Anne worked with Barclays Bank for 28 years, looking after orphans and abandoned children within her own home. On retirement she opened this centre and has dedicated her life to the work.

Well, this is a pleasant change, just what the doctor ordered! (-: Wonderful to listen to this lady. I sincerely hope that the centre continues to be a blessing! Very sincere woman. I've often found that it is people like her who make the real difference in life not the usual suspects who have access to big powerful NGO funding and get recognition at some big huge award ceremony. Nice to see this highlighted. I hope that garden she mentioned thrives with lots of home grown fruit and veg. I hope it is abundant for them. Lovely video.

It distresses me how materialism has taken over. For me when the scales tip either way it's trouble. There doesn't seem to be enough intelligence around the world. It's insane how nothing makes sense anymore. That's how I feel.

@Angela Boyle That is also the reason why you don't give money to big organizations, let alone UN.
I have talked to an Austrian police officer who used to be a UN trooper, he said the amount of corruption is astounding.
Money draws frauds,. That is the reason why the many, many small charities in Kenya move so much with so little resources.
Also because the Africans are much more flexible and creative in putting funds to use than Europeans.

    • Angela Boyle
Angela Boyle 13 dni temu +1

It's strange, North Ireland occupied counties where extremely good at making a lot from little to help each other. As soon as large amounts of money came into the picture though, it was no longer from the heart.

In Kenya there are lots of them. The country is filled with charities like hers, accomplishing amazing things with very, very little.
Let us hope that the new president is not as corrupt as Kenyatta who devastated the country with an utterly needless lockdown.

She sounds like she is from Northern Kenya.
Shout out to Dr. Campbell for personally engaging in this wonderful work. There are lots of small, private charities in Kenya, both domestic and Western, that accomplish a lot in the country.
For example a Newspaper in Thika, a town of about 250,000 40km east of Nairobi, has reported that within 5 years those charities have cut the number of street children in half.
Only personal contact with a charity can minimize the risk of giving money to frauds. This exists as well, but in my experience the majority of the private charities is trustworthy and effective.
Note what she says when Dr. Campbell invites her to turn to the audience. You would expect a plea for donations.

Dear Dr. John, I've noticed that your viewership has gone down in these related YT videos about the New Hope Children's Centre, which must be quite disconcerting and bring a feeling of disappointment in humanity. After all, we are just selfish humans, mostly concerned about ourselves (it's true!). Nevertheless, I hope you see that your far reach because of the Covid videos has given you a wide audience and that it has provided many more "coffees" for New Hope. I am one of them. Thank you Dr. Campbell for this work in parts of the world that are largely ignored.

Kenya is a beacon of light in Africa. I think the Queen visited quite a few times I think it was her favourite African country. what about funding what do they do for that? is it government funded or they need to look for outside funding, can people donate?

    • palimpalim

According to their website no government funding, just charity from people and businesses.
The latter btw. contribute quite a lot in Kenya. The owner of the biggest construction company is a well known philanthropist, and extremely effective at that, much, much more than any European charity.

Dr. John: All sorts of channels are talking about studies that show the risks and side-effects of the vaccines. Why do you keep acting like YOU ALONE are restricted by youtube, from talking about the vaccines in a transparent, fact-based way? Take these studies and dissect them as you have always done. You have a spine - you have shown that. Like Tess Lawrie accused Dr. Hill - don't let concern for your own income stand in the way.
